3 January 2018, New York, USA | South-South News — United States (US) ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said “the Iranian dictatorship is trying to do what it always does, which is to say that the protests were designed by enemies,” adding “we all know that is complete nonsense.”

Speaking today (3 Jan) to reporters in New York, Haley noted that the demonstrations are “completely spontaneous” and “virtually at every city in Iran.”

The US representative stressed that dozens have already been killed and hundreds have been arrested.

She added, “If the Iranian dictatorship’s history is any guide, we can more outrageous abuses in the days to come. The UN must speak out. In the days ahead we’ll be calling for an emergency session, both here in New York and at the Human Rights Council in Geneva.”

Regarding the Democratic Peoples’s Republic of Korea, she said “we finished December with our third strong sanction resolution of last year. That was a great achievement, but there’s more to do to ensure full implementation of the Security Council resolutions as we hear reports that North Korea might be preparing for another missile test.”
