Rio+20 Opens Calling for Action as World Reaches Tipping Point
”Words must translate into action”, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon told world leaders, formally opening the largest and most anticipated UN Conference on Sustainable Development-Rio+20, with about 42,000 people in attendance at day one, including over 120 Presidents and Prime Ministers, thousands participating from the private sector and civil society in Rio Centro, Brazil’s massive Conference complex, to set in motion an action track toward economic, social and environmental sustainability.

In the wake of a disaster that left more than 1,200 dead and still more buried and missing amid rubble, Bangladesh, and the international community, are left searching for answers.
