To help advance the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals and the development of the Global South, South-South News works with developing countries to implement mutually beneficial programs, utilizing ICT and other growth mechanisms as tools for development, through partnerships between government, the private sector, civil society, and academia. Here are brief descriptions of a few of such projects.

The South-South Convention Center aims to provide a platform to enable creative thinkers and leaders from public and private sectors to focus on actions which respect, promote, and utilize innovation from all tiers of the economy. It aims to mobilize resources rapidly to address a wide range of innovation-based challenges and opportunities.

The aim of South-South Convention Center is to build leadership capacity and a professional collaborative culture where the platform nurtures diversity of regional legacies and social partnerships. It will provide economic, technological and educational avenues to create a climate of positive relationships and significant growth in various sectors. The South-South Online Expo is essentially the online counterpart of the South-South Convention Center. It aims to provide a digital platform to enable the countries of the South to conduct economic cooperation and business trade and transactions over the web. The system of digital modules will provide for policy coordination, communication, transaction, payment, marketing, training and education, as well as technological exchanges.

The South-to-South Network Partnership foresees creating a platform for “The Super Highway of the Southern Hemisphere” - universal data movement access in the Southern Hemisphere for the purposes of providing Internet connectivity and e-government services including health applications, education programs, job creation and financial infrastructure. It will serve as a tool for realizing the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.

Stage One is to deliver results to Group A Pilot Project countries with private sector participation as a showcase for other nations. Stage Two is the Expansion Project, which will include Group B, Group C, Group D and Group E countries.

South-South News, in partnership with United Nations departments and agencies including ITU, UN GAID, UN DESA, and SU-SSC, are holding a high level multi-stakeholder forum to facilitate partnerships and action in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to help achieve the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs): “The High Level Forum on ICT as a Tool for Development to Achieve the Millennium Development Goals, 2011”.

The forum is a high level meeting, to bring together about 100 attendants from governments (including prime ministers, ministers, and ambassadors), private sector leaders in ICT, academic and research institutions, and United Nations high officials to facilitate multi-stakeholder partnerships incorporating innovation, financial support, valuable experience and international implementation.

Along with the theme of youth, four broad themes relating to the MDGs will be explored: ICT for e-governance, education, health and sustainable tourism. The forum will be a unique learning and partnership-building opportunity from an exchange of practical experience among governments of developing countries with the private sector, working with the insights that can be offered by international organizations and academic and research institutions.

In response to demand for quality education in developing countries, and the call for universal public education by the Millennium Development Goals, South-South News is working on capacity building and capability building in the educational field. Recognizing that a key to modern education is to digitize education and that IT products, projection equipment, and campus network are needed in infrastructure building for digitized education, South-South News has developed an interactive multimedia education system aimed at the kindergarten and primary level schools. As a special initiative, South-South News, through various sponsorships, will donate the systems to schools in 100 developing countries.
