In October 2010, South-South News and other partners hosted a gala dinner for the participants and invited guests attending the Global South-South Creative Week at the Shanghai World Expo. The ambassadors and UN officials present honored Dr. Awni Behnam, UN Commissioner-General of the UN Pavilion, for his outstanding work not only in coordinating the Expo work of UN agencies on behalf of the Secretary-General but also for being part of the Shanghai World Expo Organizing Committee. Following this special evening, South-South News launched its regional office in Hong Kong with a dinner celebrating the UN-Habitat World Urban Campaign. The final leg of the trip included a trip with the Ambassadors and UN officials present to the Hengqin development zone in Zhuhai, China. The delegation was met by the Mayor of Zhuhai City, who took the visitors to see the location for the development zone area, which will be the ICT hub of the southern region of China.
