"We live in an increasingly water insecure world where demand often outstrips supply and where water quality often fails to meet minimum standards. Under current trends, future demands for water will not be met." -United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon's message on the International Day of Biological Diversity 2013.

"Intensive efforts to achieve the MDGs have clearly improved health for people all over the world," said Dr. Margaret Chan, Director-General of the United Nations World Health Organization (WHO).

Giant pandas, tigers, gorillas, marine turtles, polar bears, rhinos, whales and elephants are among the endangered warns the Convention of International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES).
